No host computer required

Use the built-in display, encoder and controls for standalone operation. Bluetooth connects your phone for data terminals, bus sniffers and live current-consumption graphs—all without occupying another USB port.

Start where every board starts

Power is the first connection. DOGS² adds current visibility and diagnostics at that same moment.

Dual programmable power

Two rails.
One clear view.

Run a sensitive analog rail and a higher-power rail from the same compact device. Set voltage and current limits digitally and watch consumption during startup.

Inspect buses

UART, RS-485, CAN and I²C receive, filter and transmit tools. An I²C master terminal and passive sniffer are included. LIN and 1-Wire support is in development.

Signal generator running on DOGS²

Generate

Square-wave generation from 1 Hz to 100 kHz with a 1–99% duty cycle, plus a power pulse generator up to 20 V / 1 A.

Working hardware.

Five first-generation engineering units have been assembled. Power, measurement, signal generation and core interface tools are working; 1-Wire and LIN support are in development.

Why DOGS²?

One name.
Two meanings.

DOGS² stands for Dual Output Generator Supply Station. The name is also dedicated to the creator’s two dogs—Tessa, a German Shepherd, and Lissa, a Yorkshire Terrier—whose portraits appear on the boards.

DOGS² is designed by Sergei, an electronics engineer with decades of hands-on experience in embedded systems, industrial electronics and product development. The project grew from a practical need: fewer instruments and adapters on the bench, without losing the tools required for everyday board bring-up.

The v1 hardware design is released under the CERN Open Hardware Licence Version 2 — Weakly Reciprocal. Schematics, manufacturing files, BOMs and design sources are available for review. Firmware and documentation will also be released under open-source licenses; the specific licenses will be stated in the repository.
